If you are going to try social networking, be prepared to endure a bit of skepticism. This advice comes from a survey by Andrea Nierenberg, in conjunction with New York University's Management Institute. "People perceive networking as give me, give me and give me," says Nierenberg, founder of the Nierenberg Group, a business relationship management company in New York. "And if you have nothing to offer me, then goodbye! No wonder so many people break into a sweat when they think of the word 'networking.'"
The nationwide survey asked the question: What is the worst thing someone did to you when networking?
