Reviews of 1080p projectors available

Projectorcentral.com has issued its review of the new Panasonic 1080p resolution projector (the PT-AE1000U). According to the reviewers, the projector (which is intended for home theater projection in dark room viewing) is excellent in terms of low digital noise, filtering for pixel structure and scaling.

The site has also issued its reviews of Sony, Mitsubishi, and Optoma 1080p projectors.

NEC sees big losses; introduces new widescreen

Although accounting rules may be part of the problem, electronics company NEC reported recently that its full-year profit forecast would be scaled back from a half-year forecast of $423.6 million to just $152.5 million. The losses are primarily in NEC's chip and mobile phones units, not its projector division. Company officials say that the losses are partially due to the necessity of abandoning U.S. accounting practices in favor of Japanese rules.

In other NEC news, NEC Display Solutions of America recently announced that it was introducing the 57-inch MultiSync LCD5710 wide-screen monitor, one of the largest commercial LCDs on the market today. The suggested street price, according to a company press release, is $14,999.
