Marc Allen, the co-founder and president of New World Library, wrote the book Visionary Business to share the story of how his own company became what it is today: built on fundamentals like caring for employees, the community and the environment.
The story is told like a parable, following Allen’s path to success. It records Allen's own entrepreneurial experience during which his mentor, an investment specialist called Bernie, shows him how to be a socially responsible business leader and helps Allen turn his new business into a success.
Allen encourages the aspiring entrepreneur to make clear goals and a simple business plan while giving back to his or her employees and community. The author also advises the reader to be positive, kind and passionate.
"Do what you love to do," writes Allen. "Work with passion, live with passion, and you will create a visionary business, in your own absolutely unique way."
At the beginning of each section of Allen’' story there is a key, such as "discover your higher purpose" or "give abundantly and reap the rewards." Keeping a positive outlook and giving back are important to Allen's model. At the end of each key is a bullet-point summary to reflect and remember the most important points from that section of the anecdote.
Marc Allen is a seminar leader, entrepreneur, author and composer. He has written several books in addition to Visionary Business, including The Millionaire Course and The Greatest Secret of All.
