Call for 2018 OLC Presenters

Training magazine’s 2018 Online Learning Conference (Oct. 8-10, Chicago) Call for Presenters is now OPEN!

We invite you to propose speaker sessions, Technology Test Kitchen and eLearning Design demo ideas, and Top Training Videos (TTVs) for Training magazine’s 2018 Online Learning Conference to be held October 8-10, 2018, in Chicago.


Follow this link to propose your session/demo/TTV clip. We welcome submissions from in-the-trenches training professionals, consultants, authors and vendors from corporations, academia, nonprofits, government, and the military.

ABOUT THE EVENT The Online Learning Conference is brought to you by Training—the industry’s leading magazine and your source for professional development. For more than 50 years, Training magazine has advocated corporate learning and workforce enrichment for business results.

Training magazine’s 2018 Online Learning Conference will provide how-to, skill-building content and showcase how innovators are solving business problems for their organizations by leveraging learning technologies to make their learning blend more cohesive, immediate, intuitive, inclusive, and immersive. The event also will reveal key trends and technologies that are taking learning to the next level.

ABOUT THE AUDIENCE Attendees are Learning and Development professionals from all sectors, including academic institutions, government/military, health care, manufacturing, finance, transportation, and business services. Attendees include designers, developers, instructors, facilitators, coordinators, managers, and Learning executives—anyone charged with increasing performance in the workplace.


  • We look for how-to, in-the-trenches, skill-building content, as well as examples of good eLearning and business cases.
  • Up to five proposals may be submitted by any one person.
  • All proposals go through a thorough review process with an outside Review Committee.
  • The primary presenter will receive a complimentary conference registration; up to two co-presenters will receive a 50% percent conference discount for some session formats.
  • Training magazine does not pay per diem, honoraria, or expenses for session presenters.
  • This event will be promoted in printed brochures, on,; in Training magazine; in the Training Weekly e-newsletter; and via e-mails to the Training universe of subscribers, attendees, and members.
  • Selected presenters will be notified by end of April 2018. 

SESSION FORMATS We are accepting proposals for the following formats:

  • Breakout Sessions: 45 minutes in length, with eight breakout sessions running concurrently in each time slot.
  • Hands-On Clinics: 90 minutes in length, with up to eight hands-on clinics running concurrently in each time slot.
  • Technology Test Kitchen Demos: Demonstrations of emerging technologies delivered in the plenary session room.
  • eLearning Design Demos: Demonstrations of innovative, engaging, and results-oriented best practices in eLearning delivered in the plenary session room. Entries are being accepted in the following categories: Mobile, Microlearning, Performance Support, Gamification, Simulations, Compliance, Evidence-based, and “Something Completely Different.”
  • Vendor Demos: We are accepting proposals for a limited number of complimentary vendor demos of eLearning technologies that will help participants create, deliver, and manage engaging learning experiences. No charge for accepted demos, though presenters must be registered for the conference. 
  • Top Training Videos (TTVs): Submit up to two (2) two-minute clips from your best training videos. The top 3 videos in the in-house produced and the external category will be shown in a Conference plenary session where participants will rank their choices. Rankings will be announced at an evening event out in Chicago where winners receive crystal awards.


  • Session description, title, and learning objectives are clearly defined.
  • Content is important, timely, and practical.
  • Content deals with new trends, tools or strategies for learning.
  • Evidence of speaker expertise and presentation experience.
  • Session showcases a proven, industry-changing example.
  • Session fits with overall need for diversity of content and perspectives.
  • Absence of sales pitch for products or services (for non-vendor sessions).
