  • Hughes Network Systems, LLC, unveiled expanded features—including live training management functionality such as such as class scheduling, user registration, class role printing, attendance, grade tracking, and a customized reporting dashboard—for its hosted learning portal. SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) conformance enables course designers to take full advantage of both off-the-shelf content and a variety of authoring tools.
  • Inforum Center for Leadership (ICL), the research and education arm of Inforum, Michigan’s network for professional women, launched NextUP, a specialized leadership development program for high-achieving women early in their careers. The NextUP program is a structured eight-week course comprising three half-day workshops and three group coaching sessions, and practice-based homework to support the in-class learning and coaching sessions.
  • A multidisciplinary team at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel developed a new training method using a desktop Webcam to improve ergonomic posture and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) among office workers using computers. A group of 60 workers received both office training and an automatic frequent-feedback system that displayed a Webcam photo of a worker’s current sitting posture alongside the correct posture photo taken during office training.
  • Lectorae-learning authoring software maker Trivantis Corporation created Lectora U, a free central location on the Web filled with e-learning resources, tutorials, demonstrations, videos, Webinars, and more. Trivantis also introduced subscription-based Lectora Intermediate Online Training, which provides instructional videos and interactive lessons to maximize development for Lectora e-learning software.
