TenarisUniversity—the corporate university of Tenaris, a global manufacturer and supplier of steel pipe products and related services for the world’s energy industry—is transforming its traditional learning structure to an employee-driven model, one that is customized by each of the company’s 22,000 employees utilizing a new digital platform for training and career development.
Tenaris partnered with learning platform Degreed, so both Tenaris-specific and external content is available online and via in-classroom training with access to a variety of videos, articles, and other resources. The platform also offers the ability to track and measure learners’ progress.
TenarisUniversity also is adopting a social learning approach, encouraging colleagues to engage within the platform, share ideas, and detail what they’re learning and how it may be relevant to others. Employees create profiles; establish skills and topics of interest; follow colleagues and external experts; and access a streaming feed of content they can comment on, share, or save to read later. Employees also can create groups and follow colleagues’ activities while growing their base of followers.
“Employees have autonomy and accountability in defining and designing their development plan to reach their professional goals,” notes Tenaris Chief Human Resources Officer Paola Mazzoleni. “They are investing in their future.”
