Are you a leader worth following? A better question may be, “Are you a leader someone else wants to be like?” To be a leader means you DO things. But what do leaders do? At least three things at different intervals:
DAILY: Every day, add to your Leadership Journal. Write a paragraph or two describing one win and one failure. Give yourself this gift of your attention to maintain momentum tomorrow and correct a mistake ASAP.
WEEKLY: On Thursday, open your calendar, scan out 30-plus days and find something you need to think about or even start working on. Set a timer for 30 minutes and do it. Right now.
MONTHLY: Host an “Acknowledgement Meeting” outside of the office. Pick a coffee shop (morning) or a local happy hour spot (evening) and invite a few people who have made a difference over the last four weeks. As a group, celebrate the wins!
Be a leader people follow. Better, be a leader other people want to BE!
