Artificial intelligence (AI) can help you work faster and better, and now it may have a say in your pay. According to Resume Now’s AI in Pay Report, 56 percent of 884 U.S. workers say AI’s role in pay is already much larger than just three years ago, and 63 percent expect its role to grow significantly in the next five years. While 68 percent believe AI’s involvement makes pay and bonus decisions fairer, 94 percent say AI pay algorithms should be reviewed by an independent third party.
Whether AI is factoring into your paycheck or not, you’ll want to check out the results of our annual Salary Survey to see how your compensation stacks up to that of your Learning and Development (L&D) peers.
While average training salaries dipped 2 percent in the last year, overall U.S. training expenditures rose nearly 5 percent, in part due to increased costs and an influx of companies in the U.S. market. Our 2025 Training Industry Report does a deep dive into the numbers, from training budgets, hours, and delivery to projected funding, outsourcing, and technology usage. Not surprisingly, AI usage in training jumped from 25 percent last year to 37 percent this year.
AI products also accounted for 29 percent of new training products/services launched in the last year, according to responses from training solution providers to new survey questions we added this year (see pp. 32-33 for their input and the trends they see on the horizon for 2026—hint, AI leads the way there, too).
And while AI was a big part of discussions at our fall TechLearn 2025 Conference in New Orleans, attendees were most excited about the human connections they made (see the wrap-up here). I hope you’ll continue to foster such connections—and make new ones—at our Training 2026 Conference & Expo in Orlando February 23-25 (https://www.trainingconference.com/ 2026/registration.cfm). I’ll see you there!
