Also debuting in this issue is a new column called “What the Tech?” by Phylise Banner, a learning experience design consultant with more than 25 years of vision, action, and leadership experience in transformational learning and development approaches. And she holds titles such as Adobe Education Leader, Certified Learning Environment Architect, and STC Fellow. Throughout the year, her column will explore different technologies and their potential role in training. For more on training technologies in this issue, check out the “Training Technology Assessment” compiled by Training magazine Research Director Saul Carliner.
We also changed the Last Word column from a three-author rotation to just one: Dawn Mahoney, CPLP, who owns Learning in The White Space LLC, a freelance talent development and instructional design consultancy. In her varied career, she has trained order processors at a catalog company, staff at a credit and debit card processing organization, new health coverage sales specialists, and leaders and front-line employees at a senior housing organization. She is passionate about developing people through better training, better instructional design, and better dialog—so don’t be shy about starting a conversation with her!
One of our biggest changes for 2019 is transforming and renaming our fall event (formerly known as the Online Learning Conference). Drum roll, please… Welcome to TechLearn—Where Technology Empowers Learning. That empowerment will take place September 17-19 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside and will be led by Chief Learning Evangelist Michael Allen of Allen Interactions.
Last but not least, we’re finalizing the details on a new peer selected/reviewed awards program. Stay tuned for more information on that in an upcoming issue.
