Matt Harding takes happiness to a new level with his Dance of Joy—and Training 2013 Conference & Expo attendees got the opportunity to share their moves with Matt on stage during his recent keynote at the event held at the Walt Disney World Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando in February.

At 26, Matt quit his job as a video game designer and spent his life savings on a trip around the world. He took a friend’s suggestion to perform his funky dance moves in the places he visited and put videos of them on his blog. They found their way onto YouTube in 2005, and his “Where the Hell Is Matt?” video became an instant Internet smash. He’s made three more videos in the meantime, recruiting folks all around the world to boogie with him. Matt teaches us that the path laid in front of us isn’t the only one we can choose and that you can get better at most things just by doing them over and over again.

He also notes that “dancing is a way of breaking down barriers. People were interested in dancing with me because they couldn’t dance worse than me. The lesson I want to get out there is that the world is a whole lot safer and more open than it’s ever been before. We don’t need to be afraid of each other.”
