Productivity Coach’s Corner: The Pause Before

With a pause before we speak, we often think bigger and share more transparently as a team.

As we continue to respond to COVID-19, many of us still meet virtually more than before. A lesson I learned working from home was to increase my awareness of the present. While I was teaching or meeting up to six hours a day via video, I applied Emotional Intelligence to my video meetings. Specifically, I practiced talking less and noticing more.

I did this by asking us all to pause, write what we were thinking, and then continue the conversation. With a pause before we speak, we often think bigger and share more transparently as a team.

What about you? Have you shared a lesson you learned while working from home?
