Health and wellness eCommerce platform iHerb uses training to actively embed its health and wellness mission into the daily lives of its team members through a multi-faceted and proactive approach. Rather than simply offering benefits, the company provides structured learning opportunities that empower team members to take charge of their physical and mental well-being. This investment in employee education is a direct reflection of the company’s core values, extending its brand promise of making wellness accessible to its own team first.

Program Details

The cornerstone of iHerb’s strategy is the Taking Care of You initiative, a comprehensive instructor-led program through which team members learn vital skills for emotional and physical wellness; physiology of stress and how to manage it; social, occupational, and financial wellness; and achieving a healthy work-life balance. This training provides practical tools and resources to support mental and emotional health, creating a culture where well-being is a shared priority.

After each session of Taking Care of You, team members are provided suggested learning activities to continue to discuss and work on with their leader, peers, and partners. The company also encourages team members in the Taking Care of You program to incorporate learning into their individual development plan (IDP) for long-term behavior change and continued growth.

Taking Care of You is complemented by ergonomics training, which addresses the physical dimension of wellness. This practical instruction is tailored to different work environments, teaching office team members how to set up an ergonomic workstation to prevent strain, while training fulfillment center team members on proper posture and safe lifting techniques.

Beyond these core courses, iHerb’s training extends to ongoing wellness campaigns, Webinars with health experts, and access to digital wellness platforms. By using a continuous and varied training approach, iHerb ensures that health and wellness are not just abstract concepts but actionable, learned behaviors.

Results

During the 12-month period, iHerb saw 100 percent retention of the top talent who participated in the Taking Care of You sessions.
