The blended program introduces learners to “The MTM Way,” a list of 25 leadership insights that have been learned along the way, from all levels of MTM.

APEX Awards

Every leader at non-emergency medical transportation services company MTM is expected to practice authentic leadership while supporting their teams to drive organizational success. To meet these expectations, leaders must understand how to utilize the tools and resources available to them. Completion of MTM’s LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) program is mandatory and provided to every new or recently hired leader who oversees direct reports, as well as leaders who oversee and influence others in complex projects or tasks.

Program Details

LEAD Training is a blended learning solution designed with business flexibility in mind. The program introduces learners to “The MTM Way,” a list of 25 leadership insights that have been learned along the way, from all levels of MTM. These insights guide every action and decision of MTM’s leaders. Every leader starts with LEAD Session I: Business Skills Development, which is divided into three tracks (Executive, Director, and Manager/Supervisor). Each track consists of on-demand microlearning modules that are reinforced through a weekly live training session with a dedicated training partner.

Leaders participate in monthly enrichment activities, where they meet with Training to conduct live practice of the skills they are learning.

MTM also hosts an annual leadership summit where where live, more in-depth training is conducted on many of the topics covered in LEAD. This includes discussions and best practice sharing between leaders across the organization.

Results

Some 9 percent of the workforce in 12 business units have completed this program.

Setting the expectations for leaders and providing them the tools they need to be effective contributed to “Feedback” and “Manager” as the highest scoring of MTM’s 17 engagement drivers in second quarter 2023. Having leaders with a strong skillset who provide support to their teams contributed to a 78.89 engagement rate in second quarter 2023, exceeding the company’s goal by more than a point.
