APEX Awards

Peak Leadership Lifecycle is a companywide leadership development program for Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) 1,200 front-line and mid-level leaders responsible for leading people, processes, or function.

Program Details

The Peak Leadership Lifecycle encompasses three integral components:

  1. Leadership Foundations: This segment comprises a series of eLearning modules that instill fundamental leadership principles, including concepts such as Situational Leadership.
  2. Growth Conversations: This phase combines eLearning, instructor-led sessions, and toolkits. It equips participants with the skills to coach the development and performance of their team members effectively.
  3. Peak Strategies: A comprehensive 10-month program, this cohort-based initiative focuses on crucial strategic leadership themes. These encompass teambuilding and focus, systems thinking, influence, inclusion, delegation and development, and the formulation of a personal leadership philosophy. Over the initial six months, each cohort of 25 participants convenes for monthly seminars. Additionally, participants receive a 360-degree assessment and coaching debrief at the program’s commencement and again four months after the final seminar.

The Peak Leadership Lifecycle leverages technology, utilizing the Compass learning management system (LMS) and Microsoft Teams to expand learning beyond the confines of the classroom. This integration allows participants to engage in social learning after their formal training.

Peak also provides new leaders with a platform to cultivate a broad network within SNHU. Ongoing Peak alumni learning opportunities delve deeper into the program’s focal points. A collaborative group learning approach further enriches these experiences, fostering sustained growth for participants over time.

Results

Some 74 percent of eligible participants have engaged in the Peak Leadership Lifecycle. Overall, leaders show a 9.9 percent increase in their core competency aligned behaviors from their pre- to six-month post-learning 360 assessment.

In fiscal year 2023, Southern New Hampshire University retained 100 percent of the leaders who completed the Peak Leadership Lifecycle, surpassing its goal of 90 percent.
