Strategic/critical thinking is the top soft skill needed in their workforce today, according to recent research from Springboard.

The majority of leaders (57%) say strategic/critical thinking is the top soft skill needed in their workforce today, according to Springboard’s 2024 State of the Workforce Skills Gap Report, which surveyed 1,031 U.S. corporate professionals. This is followed by:

  • Problem-solving and decision-making: 49%
  • Verbal and written communication: 46%
  • Flexibility and adaptability: 43%
  • Emotional intelligence and interpersonal relationships: 40%
  • Leadership/management: 35%
  • Time management: 31%
  • Creativity: 30%
  • Effective remote/hybrid collaboration: 21%
  • Cultural competence/ inclusion: 15%
  • Storytelling: 10%
