Soaring to New Heights

The 5 qualities of confident inspired people.

Recently, I had the privilege to be invited back as a guest speaker at the Global Sales Conference of one of TransForm’s clients, a major airline.

Prior to the conference, the executives and meeting planners wanted to ensure the choice of presentations offered at the conference were those perceived to be most relevant to the 900 attendees. The company sent out a pre-conference survey that provided 15 different titles from which the participants could prioritize the sessions that would best meet their needs.

All of these sessions were, of course, appropriate for both salespeople and their leaders. However, based on demand, these would have to be narrowed down and a final selection made. None of the speaker names were mentioned.

In the pre-planning call prior to the conference, our client informed me that a title my company put forward was overwhelmingly the most popular: “The Five Qualities of Confident Inspired People.” One could speculate as to why this would have been most in demand, but, sufficed to say, it provides evidence that some things never change.

Confidence and inspiration are directly connected to how we experience our lives. With confidence we take the risks we need to take to live the lives we imagine for ourselves. When life sets us back with an unanticipated difficulty or challenge, confidence sustains us with the unwavering belief that we can handle it. Inspiration is rooted in a sense of purpose; it is the spark that ignites our passion for life and the desire each day to grow and contribute.

So what are these Five Qualities of Confident Inspired People?

  1. Purpose: The most important thought you can ever hold is: Your life matters.
  2. Self-Appreciation: Your past cannot be changed, but tomorrow can be changed by your actions today.
  3. Vision: Clarity of intention—propelled by enthusiasm—is the most potent combination known to humankind.
  4. Attitude: Whether life is a privilege or a pain is a direct reflection of our attitudes.
  5. Commitment: Commitment is the fuel that propels you toward the future you imagine for yourself.

My wish is that these qualities will inspire you to make your vision a reality and to live a purposeful and fulfilling life.
