The Value of Continuous Learning

Some 80% of U.S. adults expressed some interest in pursuing additional skills training in the next year, according to a recent survey.

How do employees view the value of continuous education? Learning technology company D2L surveyed 500 U.S. adults to find out. Key findings include:

  • Though 80% of U.S. adults expressed some interest in pursuing additional skills training in the next year, just 35% had taken some kind of structured or formal education or training in the same time frame.
  • 1 in 5 U.S. adults would consider online courses/certificates from a company, professional association, or their current employer vs. 14% who would consider taking a course at a college or university.
  • 30% didn’t know how to define a micro-credential.
