HOF2022

PWC: MY+ ACTIVATOR PROGRAM

Over the span of three years (through 2025), PwC has been working toward enhancing its people experience that includes:

  • Increased emphasis on individual growth and development
  • Customized rewards and benefits for its people
  • Well-being further engrained into daily experiences
  • Increased flexibility to dynamically support its people as their lives and needs shift

The My+ Activator program is a citizen-led engine to drive adoption of the overall My+ people strategy PwC launched in 2022. My+ includes four key pillars:

  1. Development: More learning and development opportunities and an emphasis on coaching and leadership skills for people at all levels.
  2. Total Rewards: More customized benefits and rewards that meet people’s needs today and tomorrow.
  3. Well-being: Tech-enabled vacation tools to make it easier to plan and take uninterrupted time off.
  4. Always a PwCer: Continued support and development even after leaving PwC.

Program Details

To influence change and adoption and underscore the importance of this people-centric initiative, PwC asked for passionate volunteers to join the My+ Activator program. More than 2,200 PwC employees applied across all levels. Some 1,250 were selected to serve one year as change champions. A second round of self-nominations was held in summer 2023, with a second class of 1,250 Activators chosen. More than 50 percent returned from the inaugural class. As part of their role, they support more than 75,000 U.S. professionals at all levels—in the U.S., Mexico, and all of PwC’s Acceleration Centers (global talent hubs of diverse, highly skilled professionals who work seamlessly with PwC’s U.S. engagement teams and business segments).

My+ Activators spend approximately 25 hours on training and upskilling and 75 hours on activating the My+ strategy within their teams and offices throughout the year. Each approaches their role and inspires their team differently, leveraging unique opportunities, talents, and ideas. For example, the PwC Boston office My+ Activators hosted a Bingo lunch, using My+ buzzwords to engage colleagues around the My+ strategy.

The skill building began at an orientation program, a day-long event held in local office locations. Highlights of the experiential launch event included improv-inspired workshops to help My+ Activators learn new strategies and tools to lean into being change champions.

During their time together, participants gained greater clarity around their role through immersive skill-building experiences and motivational messaging. They had opportunities to learn more about themselves and what success looks like with relevant experiences and skills to equip them. During breakout sessions, they explored what it means to be an My+ Activator, what success will look like, and how they could lead with their values.

In the months that followed, My+ Activators took their new skills to the next level to amplify their impact. They participated in ongoing virtual skill-building sessions to maintain the momentum from the initial launch event. They also participated in monthly interactive sessions focused on various My+ tools to help equip them to drive adoption within their teams. Activators also facilitated group discussions during the Leaders in Action quarterly speaker series, held in local PwC offices. They sponsored ongoing dialogue within their teams (nudges, activities, communications) to foster inclusive leadership behaviors and empower team members to give and receive feedback.

Results

My+ Activators are helping drive engagement around the My+ strategy, and they play a significant role in citizen-led adoption, including:

  • Driving PwC’s Inclusive Mindset badge completion
  • Facilitating seven Leaders in Action events in office and virtually
  • Building a strong network and community of Activators (more than 1,500 employees/partners)
  • Supporting the launch and adoption of My+ tools
  • Rallying 20,000 employees to participate in three My+ firmwide challenges
  • Attaining 250,000-plus views across seven Leaders in Action events

The My+ Activator program earned a Net Promoter Score of 33 percent and 92 percent for learning effectiveness.

As PwC is beginning its new fiscal year, its My+ Activators are further fostering its people’s employee experience—driving well-being and further developing and supporting careers. The firm is excited to see how its people continue to be empowered by their My+ journey, building trust and delivering sustained outcomes for PwC’s clients.
