Training Hall of Fame Outstanding Training Initiatives (November 2023)

Each year Training magazine requires all Training Hall of Famers to submit an Outstanding Training Initiative that is shared with our readers in a print or onlineonly issue. Here are the details of Keller Williams Realty International’s Keller Successful Career Opportunities in Real Estate (KSCORE) and KW Prep initiative.

KELLER WILLIAMS REALTY INTERNATIONAL: KSCORE AND KW PREP INITIATIVE

Keller Williams Realty International’s Keller Successful Career Opportunities in Real Estate (KSCORE) and KW Prep initiative offers state-required real estate sales pre-licensing training at no cost to aspiring real estate agents, along with supplemental education about what it takes to succeed in the real estate industry.

This ground-breaking program includes a fully digital real estate training curriculum offered at scale in partnership with a leading real estate education provider. The program provides a way for students to overcome a major financial barrier to becoming a licensed real estate agent as most real estate schools charge hundreds of dollars for pre-licensing education.

Program Details

KSCORE is a company-wide effort that is open to any Keller Williams (KW) franchise in qualifying states. The supplemental KW Prep program is available to all franchise offices, including those in states where the pre-licensing portion of the program is not yet available.

The Training team was an integral part of the intradepartmental team that built the framework on which the initiative is based. Training collaborated with other teams to create videos, fact sheets, and job aids to assist in program education for Market Center leadership teams.

As time progressed, the Training team took the lead on the KW Prep portion of the initiative. Working alongside a top real estate agent deemed the “Coach of KW Prep,” they developed education on how to succeed in real estate, which is not typically covered in state-mandated pre-licensing courses. KW Prep consists of:

  • 17 video-based modules with worksheets and downloads. Each module must be completed before moving on to the next one.
  • 30 supplemental videos to enhance each module, featuring top KW agents sharing real-world experiences relevant to the module topics.
  • Weekly Webinars to educate on best practices and answer questions about franchise implementation with franchise leadership.

The Coach of KW Prep delivers the Webinars, which feature 15-minute question-and-answer sessions (held on the first and second Thursdays of each month) and updates to the program. Open-forum masterminds are held on a specific topic the fourth Thursday of each month. Two monthly newsletters with best practices, marketing suggestions, and resources also are sent to all KSCORE administrators.

KSCORE and KW Prep are delivered as an asynchronous online program, allowing students to study at their own pace and giving them time to master the material and feel confident going into licensing exams.

To ensure that KW met variable licensing requirements across the U.S., the company partnered with a vendor to deliver state-approved pre-licensing content to enrolled students, leveraging their delivery platform for the pre-licensing portion of the program.

For KW Prep, KW leveraged a customized instance of a learning management system (LMS) to deliver the training materials.

Results

Since launching this initiative, KW has enrolled and retained 561 of roughly 815 Market Centers in KSCORE and KW Prep, exceeding the company’s goal. Some 123,115 people have enrolled and 15,691 have completed their pre-licensing training through KSCORE.
